I have excessive gag reflex even from brushing my teeth. It's really annoying. How can I stop it?

It is impossible to stop to but you can train yourself not to gag with practice. The reflex is usually related to the tongue and soft palate. Some go as far as using topical anesthetic gel while brushing to avoid it, others to taking anti nausea medications. My suggestions are to get smaller head tooth brush along with toothpaste that you like its taste, and most importantly LOOK WHILE YOU ARE BRUSHING!

Hello,
The main consequence that people with gag reflex face, is bad hygiene. so don't phase away from persisting in cleaning your teeth.
What i would recommend is a small quantity of toothpaste (pea size) on a dry toothbrush.
In addition, you can finish up with mouth gargle. but please, take note that gargling is no substitute to brushing, it's an additive.
You can help yourself by exercising your breathing as you brush and position your head in a level that would be most comfortable.

i hope this help, i know that gag reflex is a hassle and it's quite hard to deal with but don't let it get to you
