it depends on how high it is, and what is high , is it the polynuclear neutrophils PNN or the lymphocytes, the eosinophils, etc. and what about the other parameters, like the Red blood cells, platetels, etc
what mostly count, is the absolute value of each and not the relative count
PNN is considered as normal if it is less than 7500 , and the lymphocytes are normal if it is less than 4500/ ml
If there is a real increase in any, it can be a serious issue, and it needs a work up, (blood smear by a specialised laboratory, bone marrow analysis, etc)
