I have trouble getting to sleep early, what can I do apart from taking sleeping pills to have a healthy sleeping pattern?

you have to adjust your sleep hygiene. i.e go to bed only to sleep. no TV no PC no eating no reading no working in bed. avoid eating heavy meals before sleep. and go to bed everyday at the same time even if not sleepy eventually you will adjust yourself. avoid afternoon naps longer than 30 minutes. there are some medications such as sedating antihistamines that are safe which you can take (with doctor's approval) before sleep.
