How long should I wait after lunch before working out(running)?
Jan 21, 2013

Dr. Faek Jamali Surgery
When you eat lunch, the gastrointestinal tract becomes active and requires increased blood flow. The blood is shunted towards the gastrointestinal tract. If you exercise immediately following eating there will be competition for blood flow towards the muscles versus the gastrointestinal tract.
Although you could exercise immediately after eating in most cases without major damage, it is generally recommended that you wait at least two hours to allow for the major part of the digestion to take place before you start your exercise.

The time within it we can do a work after the lunch is minimum two hours.it can be longer in case of heavy meal because the most important part of the circulation have to go to the gastro intestinal tract especially in the first hour.we don't have to forget that all depend of the nature of the meal and his quantity.
