Sometimes the flu may take time to resolve. In your case you need to know if you have any allergies or maybe chronic inflammation in your sinuses that are making your symptoms worse. Your doctor will tell you what to do after examining you.

when you swallow mucus, it means that the secretions are coming from your nose and irritating your throat, causing cough. this condition is called "post nasal drip" wich can be due to several reasons mainly to allergy called "allergic rhinitis" or sinuses inflammation called "sinusitis". to differentiate between these two conditions we have to know if your symptoms appear in specific times during each year, like in spring or fall, the color of your phlegm and the associated symptoms. when taking an antibiotic we have to be sure if it is the appropriate one and if it is really needed and if it is taken for the right duration. perhaps the antibiotic you took didn't fulfill these conditions .
