Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Honey is a good adjunct for treating cough but it is not the basis of proper treatment. Your daughter needs to be examined fully by her pediatrician especially that the course of the cough has been non-remitting; she could very well have bronchitis (infection/inflammation of the lung airways) which requires antibiotics. Such condition can only be diagnosed upon physical examination +/- chest Xray.

It depends on the color of the mucus if it's green or yellow it will be a bronchitis problem. Antibiotics & mucolytics it's recommended.

Dr. Elie Salem Pediatrics
Honey is good as adjunct therapy for cough but we should know the cause of the cough, that is why she should be examined by her doctor in order to know the cause of the cough, in case she has bronchitis she DOESNT need antibiotics since it is a viral infection and doesnt need mucolytics since it is not advisable to use them below the age of 6 yo according to American Academy of Pediatrics
