Mum is 91, in bed 12 hours a day.she has a scar 7 cm diameter & 2 cm depth,we are using from 10 days the mebo cream & cover with a steril compress.she takes ciprodyne 500 mg 2 tabs daily.is it enough

what you are describing is not a scar, it is a bed sour caused by crushing of the skin ,and muscles over the bones. so what you are doing to it is the optimal management. but before doing this you should remove all the dead tissue from the wound and from its edges till u you see normal tissue then you start to apply creme and do dressing as you described. removing dead tissue might be needed more than one time until complete healing. antibiotics is not recommended unless there is some cellulitis around the wound. 2 major thinks should be done for better result : 1- control of blood sugar if there is diabetes, along with good nutrition. 2 - always change the position of your mum in order to avoid further crushing of tissues.

She might need a water mattress (since she stays a lot of time in bed).
As for the scar, Surgical debridement is mandatory. As for Ciprodyne the dosage seems OK. And Mebo cream is helpful for the healing of the scar.
