Wellbutrin (bupropion) is used in the treatment of ADHD in adults, either alongside or instead of stimulants, which are the mainstay of therapy for this disorder. Antidepressants which target the brain chemicals dopamine and norepinephrine, such as bupropion and venlafaxine (Effexor), are the most effective.
There used to be a generic of Wellbutrin on the market, but it was withdrawn back in 2012 because it was found to be ineffective.
