Can my 1 year old baby eat meat?
Apr 3, 2013

Dr. Judy Matta Pediatrics
Between the 7 and 10 months of age, after you have started food diversification (which usually is between 4 and 6 months of age) and introduced the fruits, vegetables and cereals to your child's menu, you can start giving meat and poultry (of course strained or pureed,Never offer your baby pieces of meat until he has several teeth).
By one year of age, your child should be able to eat most of the foods you serve the rest of the family ( of course it has to be pureed, and not heavily spiced or salted). He needs foods from the same four basic nutrition groups that you do:
1. Meat, fish, poultry, eggs
2. Dairy products
3. Fruits and vegetables
4. Cereal grains, potatoes, rice, breads, pasta
