Why is it when we sleep on our hand for a long period, it feels numb when we wake up?
Oct 12, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
If you place your weight on one part of your body, the applied pressure will compromise blood flow to that part, so when you wake it feels numb because the blood is not circulating properly there and so the nerves are partially deprived of blood supply. When you remove the weight of your body off your arm, the blood takes some time to return to normal and with it the normal sensation/function of your arm.
