Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
In this case, I strongly recommend that you do basic blood tests (complete blood count to check for anemia, thyroid function tests to rule out thyroid hyperactivity, BUN creatinine and electrolytes to rule out dehydration). If all turns out normal and your symptoms persist, you'll have to do a 24 hour Holter monitor, a test during which a continuous tracing of the heart (electrocardiogram) is done to look for any extra or premature heart beats. The treatment is based upon the result of this test, usually a simple medication that will show down the heart rate and regulate it.
