Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
A more detailed history of your symptoms is needed, including the location and radiation of the pain, the pattern of it, what makes it better or worse especially in relation to body positioning (sitting, lying down, standing up etc.), associated symptoms such as numbness or tingling on the affected side, lifestyle practices that may be contributing to the particular problem. Additionally, a thorough examination of the back, using special maneuvers, is also necessary to try and locate the defect and better understand its nature.
Based upon the findings elicited from the history and physical examination, a proper diagnosis may be reached, or the assessing physician may deem it necessary to perform some kind of imaging.
