Dr.zakia dimassi; how does denxit function? How long does it take to show result or effect? Thanks in advance
Oct 25, 2014

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Deanxit is made up of two components- flupentixol 0.5mg (or flupenthixol, an antipsychotic) and melitracen 10mg (a tricyclic antidepressant). When combined together, the drugs work synergistically.

Deanxit is given only for a short term under the supervision of a specialist physician for the treatment of the following conditions:
Depression
Anxiety
Bipolar disorder: its second component, melitracen acts against bipolar illnesses.
Menopausal depression, where other treatment options fail
Headaches of muscular origin
Resistant migraines
Certain gastrointestinal disturbances which have a neurological component.

One or two tablets taken on a daily basis is the usual regimen. In severe cases, the morning dose is increased to two tablets.

Deanxit requires around 2 weeks to kick in. In the initial phases of the treatment, you may get insomnia and other side effects, but you should be able to gradually get used to these effects.
