Is it true that we should drink at least 2 liters of water daily??or its a common myth too?!it could be harm to kidneys to drink that much water ..right??

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Different studies have yielded different recommendations, but the rule is around 3 liters for men and 2.2 liters for women of fluids, unless you suffer from heart or kidney disease. When you're at rest you lose fluids through breath, perspiration, urination and bowel movements. Of course the amount of fluid needed per day should be higher in hot/humid weather conditions, when you exercise (need additional 1/2 to 1 liter depending on the length and intensity of exercise), altitude (at higher altitudes oxygen is lower so you breathe faster thus losing more fluids), or illness (like when you get fever you lose more fluids).
A good habit is to drink water (preferably) or a low-calorie fluid with each meal and in between meals.
