Is eating alot makes us sleep alot as wel?
May 9, 2013

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
eating makes us feel somehow sleepy it is common ,when food is still present in the stomach and the person overeats and overeats, overeating produces a biochemical shock on the whole organism due to factors related to heavy breathing. Falling asleep and tired after eating (usually in 20-60 minutes after eating) are frequent signs of this biochemical shock.
This effect of being sleepy after eating meals is much stronger after eating junk food and especially overeating these meals.
The solution for this problem is to chew food very well (to prevent overeating) or to eat half of the meal and wait for 20 minutes, waiting for signs of hunger.
This effect (feeling sleepy after eating) is even more common in overweight people. Both signs (obesity and getting sleepy after eating) indicate ineffective breathing (breathing too often and too much air per one breath) at the same time. The solution to this common problem for obese people is to practice reduced breathing to increase body oxygenation. Any time an overweight person eats complex carbohydrates or fats, his body-oxygen levels and breathing immediately become much worse. Furthermore, hunger for starches and fats indicate a state of stress and lower body-oxygen content with higher heart rate. This causes people to feel sleepy after eating.
