I wake up with a numb hand and it gets swollen and I get severe pain what is my case?
Apr 17, 2015

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
The sensation of numbness usually indicates that there is compression of the nerve that supplies the affected area; this leads us to think of cervical disc disorder (something affecting the spinal cord at the level of the neck), such as calcification of the vertebrae (the bones that make up the spine) at the level of the opening through which the nerves exit, or bulging disc etc. Or it could be something as simple as sleeping on one side and waking up with numbness. Now regarding the swelling, there must be something affecting the joints, like an inflammatory process. I recommend that you have yourself examined by a physician to better assess your symptoms and manage them properly.
