I may have Metapneumovirus B. What should i do to treat it and which doctor can i see?
Jan 16, 2016

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Metapneumovirus is one of the viruses responsible for causing common cold. We don't routinely test for it because the treatment is supportive, meaning you take pain medications, anti- pyretics (medications that lower the temperature) if you have fever, use nasal saline spray, take cough medication, drink plenty of fluids, and rest. Metapneumovirus is not a new virus. It has always been around and caused cases of upper respiratory tract infections, but we do not test for it as there's no need and no necessary treatment with special drugs.
