I have a 'chahweh', mainly scattered dots, that only appears when exposed to the sun. Why is that?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
A birthmark (chahweh) is the result of a problem with the development of structures in the skin and soft tissues such as tiny blood vessels (capillaries) or cells that produce the dark pigment (melanin) that gives your skin its color. It is therefore expected that the heat of the sun (causing these blood vessels to dilate), and/or the fact that sun exposure enhances the melanin pigment fabrication by the skin (as defense against UVB), to make those marks more prominent.
