Why do some doctors say that going to the sauna and sweating helps in shedding calories while in fact sweat is just water and is not related to calorie burning?

Because the elevated temperature in the saunas increase your heart rate subsequently leading to a pseudo cardio exercise. A 10 min sauna stay is equivalent to 30 min of Cardio.

PS: do not stay longer than 15 To 20 min, high temperatures might have deleterious effects on the brain and could induce dehydration if not fully hydrated prior to going in.
