Whats the ratio LDL to HDL should be so iam in safe side if having both very high
Mar 23, 2013

Dr. Ziad Mansour Thoracic Surgery
The ratio itself is not important.
High HDL blood levels are good and may attenuate the effects of other cardiovascular risk factors (Age depending to gender, Blood Hypertension, Diabetes, etc...).
LDL levels should be low, normal blood level ranges around 140 mg/dl (according to most laboratories). It should be lowered to less than 100 in case of multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

usually we talk about the ratio of total cholesterol(TC) to high- density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDLC) as a marker for assessment of future relative risk for myocardial infarction and cardiovascular disease among apparently healthy individuals; the lower the ratio the lower the risk. this ratio should be less than 4.97 for males and less than 4.44 for females.this means that the lower the cholesterol and the higher the HDL the better the result. exercise and appropriate diet will help you achieve this goal
