there are several types of kidney stones. (calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, uric acid stones and others. and each has its characteristics and causes. some factors are uncontrollable such have family history, male sex, renal anatomy... and other factors are controllable. the best way is to keep yourself well hydrated ie drink at least 1.5-2L of water per day, low protein diet, low salt diet, and avoid any urinary tract infection.
