if the swelling is associated with redness, it can be due to infection, mainly due to micro abrasion in the skin.
if there is no redness , it can be varicose veins...(less likely in your age)
if it is in the vulvar region, it can be bartholin cyst...
you should be examined honestly to diagnose it
