Sometimes when I sleep, it's really hard to wake up. People hit me and I don't even realize it as if I were in a temporary coma. Is that normal?

This could fit the description of idiopathic hypersomnia, or sleep drunkenness, a type of sleep disorder characterized by a prolonged major sleep episode, great difficulty waking up in the morning or at the end of a nap, constant or recurrent daytime sleepiness, and feeling that the sleep you’re getting is unrefreshing. These occur in spite of “adequate, or more typically, extraordinary sleep amounts (e.g., greater than 10 hours per night). Sleep is usually quite deep, with significant difficulty arousing from sleep, even with use of several alarm clocks. A hallmark of this condition is that affected individuals find themselves compelled to adopt elaborate rituals to wake up, as alarm clocks and even physical attempts by friends/family to wake them may fail. Once an individual with hyp[ersomnia is out of bed, he/she remains confused, disoriented, unable to react properly to external stimuli, and it may take up to a few hours before they are fully functional.
The causes for this sleep disorder remain poorly understood.
Diagnosis is difficult to make especially in the early stages of the disorder, mainly because idiopathic hypersomnia lacks a clearly defining clinical feature. Continuous polysomnography (monitoring of the brain sleep waves) may be able to depict sleep behavior in individuals suspected to have idiopathic hypersomnia.
