Dry skin is sensitized to the slightest stimuli; rubbing against clothes, weather changes, the water you use in bathing, chlorine in swimming pools, all can easily irritate your skin and further exacerbate dryness. You are advised to keep the affected area well moisturized (Vaseline petroleum jelly is a good choice) and use cotton underwear. Also avoid very tight pants and possible irritants as much as possible.
