This could be due to severe chronic allergy of the nose (allergic rhinitis), or if you abuse the use of nasal sprays like Otrivin or Triofan or Vibrocil, which are notorious for affecting the sense of smell (may reduce or lead to loss of the sense of smell, something we call anosmia), and producing changes in the nasal mucosa (the moist inner lining of the nose) and turn it dry and unhealthy (a condition known as atrophic rhinitis). But remember these are only speculations based upon a subjective complaint you are presenting - your judgment may be inaccurate, and the only way to assess your sense of smell is by seeing a doctor, who will ask you to identify the smells of certain items with your eyes closed.
