My period hurts a lot and Ponstant Forte say that we should only take 3 pills a day but I'm at work and the pain is unbearable Can I take more than 1500mg a day? Or should I take advil with it?
Ponstant forte(Mefenamic acid)
should not be used in combination with painkilling doses of aspirin or any other NSAID taken by mouth , eg ibuprofen)(Advil is a brand of ibuprufen), as this increases the risk of side effects on the stomach and intestines.
Do not exceed the stated dose which is 3 times a day .
What you can do if you have a severe pain is to take 2 tab of panadol in addition to ponstan .panadol could be taken every 6 hrs not to be exceeded more .
So to cover the period of pain alternate between the two medicines.
If it is the first time to complain this severe pain in a period check with the doctor to investigate such newly pain ,if it is only every period pain then it is ok ,try combination pain killers to cover the paiN as i mention before
