Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
Dandruff is a form of skin eczema called seborrhea.Yeast is a fungus that sometimes builds up on scaly areas of seborrhea.Treatment of seborrhea (dandruff) is directed at fighting the skin inflammation.

Then you have two conditions related to each others the dandruff on your head and a condition called seborrheic dermatitis which is dandruff of the face in the form of patches of flaky skin, just like the dandruff that affects your head

Both have no specific cause ,or the cause is unknown but may be due to an overgrowth of a yeast-like fungus called malassezia, normally present on skin beside it can be associated with other medical conditions such as psoriasis and eczema (if you have any medical case treating the condition will help get rid of the condition )

there are several factors that might affect the condition such as (oily skin concerning face dandruff, dry skin on head) , stress or fatigue, extreme temperatures (usually cold weather), and simply not shampooing or washing enough

it is advised to use anti dandruff shampoo containing certain ingredients that control dandruff like :
tar ,salicylic acid, zinc pyrithione (like Head & Shoulders),selenium sulfide (Selsun Blue),ketoconazole (Nizoral)

if nizoral is not effective with you switch to another ,You can use any of these either all of the time or just once or twice a week, depending on how severe your symptoms are. If the problem quiets down or disappears, your can use nonmedicated shampoos. For resistant cases, you can even alternate two different types.

it is thought that coconut oil is a "tried and true" dandruff treatment, and it smells nice too. Before showering, massage 3-5 tablespoons of coconut oil into your scalp and let sit for about an hour.

The condition may be treated with topical anti fungal and corticosteroid creams (clotrimazole, an antifungal cream, and 1 percent hydrocortisone, an anti-itch cream, as two topicals)

if the problem is severe contact a dermatologist ,to prescribe oral medications
Pay attention to the soap you used to wash your face ,don't keep soap on your face ,wash face and head more frequently
if there is medical condition treat the condition by checking with a doctor.
You may try different things to reach what is effective for your husband .
