Can asthma be cured? Can people with asthma play sports without coughing every time? Are they sensitive to perfume? Will the symptoms of asthma improve at age 18?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Asthma is a chronic disease that starts in childhood; around half of the cases resolve by adolescence or adulthood, the other half continue to have symptoms. Triggers include exercise, odors (paint, detergents...), dust, insects, house dust mites..
Treatment is a combination of bronchodilators (they dilate the airways) and inhaled or oral steroids (to treat the airway inflammation).
You can prevent wheezing by using the bronchodilator before exercising. Also you need to figure out what precipitates wheezing (so you need to consult an asthma specialist) to avoid such triggers.
