I went to a MD who does CBT and studied mental health( work in a mental health center) he prescribed me treatment with medication for my social anxiety only without talking about myself. is it normal?

Dr. Georges Karam Psychiatry
Unfortunately this has been happening often. Those MDs are NOT trained in psychiatry and should be prescribing psychiatric medications. Yes legally they have the right to prescribe as they are doctors but just like a psychiatrist is allowed to treat cancer...
If you need medications, I advise you to visit a certified psychiatrist. You can find a list on lpsonine.org
Good luck!

Dr. Mostafa Odeh Psychiatry
With respect to psychiatric interview , doctors usually listen to their
patient an encourage them to talk about their problems no matter how much
trivial they are, and at the end of the interview they summarize the whole
scene and provide the patient with the necessary information, he is in need to
know about his problems , and then discuss with him the therapeutic
alternatives available which can help him to sort out his problems .So, not
listing to patients and not allowing them to talk about the things they want to
talk about is not part of the tradition of psychiatric practice .
