This description sounds like an exaggerated allergic reaction to the insect bite . I also advise you to draw a marking line around the area of the redness in order to keep track of its progression. If the area is expanding too fast and large, this means that the deeper layers of the skin are affected (cellulitis) and an oral antibiotic becomes required.
