I sometimes have a very strong heartbeat that lasts for minutes. My heart beats so hard that I feel my whole body is pounding. Why is that?

Dr. Jean Esso Anesthesiology
First, how old are you? Do you have any heart diseases?
Is this causing you problems? Are you having palpitations? Pain? Shortness of breath? Dizziness? Is the rate irregular? If you answered no to all those you probably have nothing to worry about.
Depending on your activity level you could have a higher than normal heart rate due to over training.
A high and strong heart beat is not an identifying indicator of any disease on its own. A high heart rate does not always mean there is a problem in the first place. It could be as simple as feeling stressed, just having eaten, or having caffeine within the last few hours.

You probably have eretisme cardiaque with tachycadia and strong heart beat. Stop caffeine, be moderate in physical exercices. If no improvement, a work up must be done.
