Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Since in your case alopecia is caused by an autoimmune process, you would most likely benefit from topical immune therapy and immune modulators, or steroids (topical, injection, or oral). Other agents that might prove to be beneficial are minoxidil and PUVA (this is a special kind of therapy whereby you swallow a compound that sensitizes your skin, then your skin gets exposed to ultraviolet A rays). In order to choose the optimal treatment regimen, you need to discuss these options with your treating physician and consult a good dermatologist.
