I am diagnosed with tesion headache that i am suffering for2 years,daily headache,the doctor prescribed cymbalta, as per my research patients treated with cymbalta are saying its poison plz advise
Cymbalta or duloxetine hydrochloride like any medication has side effects. It is an anti-depressant and prooved to be effective in chronic headache that is associated with depression. The main side effects (according to the FDA) :
1. Suicidal thoughts or actions early in the treatment amd as any other antu-depressant
2.Liver damage symtoms: itching, right upper abdominal pain,dark urine, hepatitis with yellow skin or eyes, enlarged liver, increased liver enzymes
3.changes in mental status, coordination problems or muscle twitching
(overactive reflexes), racing heartbeat, high or low blood pressure, sweating or fever , nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea , muscle rigidity , dizziness , flushing, tremor , seizures
4. skin reactions
5. hypo or hypertension
6. change in appetite or weight
Like any medication if taken adequately and in adequate doses there shouldn't be any problem. Also you need to know that you cannot stop immediately the medication and you should check with your physician when you need to stop it.
