How to know if I'm allergic to something?
Jun 21, 2013

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Allergic reactions can range from mild skin rash, to diffuse rash associated with difficulty breathing, body swallowing, gut symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea), to anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction accompanied with drop in blood pressure, fever, chills, and may be lethal).
If you have doubts about being allergic to a particular item, keep a diary of what you eat, places you go to (especially if there's trees, grass, pollen...), products you use, exposure to chemicals or dust etc. And try to establish an association between exposure and reaction.
Mind you, many a time the body develops a reaction to an item that previously had no such effect on it.
