How much should HPV vaccine cost? and at what age should it be done?
Jun 17, 2015

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
HPV vaccines are given as a series of three doses over a 6-month period; they protect against HPV infection and the complications that HPV infection can cause. There are three HPV vaccines (Cervarix, Gardasil, and Gardasil 9). Girls and young women should get any of these HPV vaccines to prevent cervical cancer. The price of one dose is around 120$.

Two of the HPV vaccines (Gardasil and Gardasil 9) also protect against genital warts and anal cancer. Young women can get HPV vaccine through age 26 who have not yet been vaccinated or completed the vaccine series.

Note that recent scientific data shave suggested that a 2-dose vaccination regimen should be sufficient to confer protection against cervical HPV-16/18 infections, HPV types 16 and 18 being the most commonly implicated in cervical cancer in women. But this has yet to be further consolidated before becoming the adopted regimen.
