I got sunburnt on my legs 3 days ago. Now, there is edema on my feet and ankles. I'm using mebo but my feet are still swollen. What should I do?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
You have sustained a first degree sunburn, which should take between 3-5 days to heal. It is expected that the affected skin areas become swollen. Mebo is a good option for a topical treatment. You may also apply ice water and take oral non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (like ibuprofen) to help reduce the swelling and alleviate any associated pain.
Preventing sunburn:
Make sure you apply sunscreen deliberately all over the exposed skin areas of your body next time you are exposed the sun and limit the time of staying under the sun, while avoiding direct sun exposure between 11 AM and 3 PM. A wide edged hat and sunglasses are also essential.
