A sore throat and pain in the throat can be caused by many pathologies including: irritation, smoking, infection, allergy and many others. Infection is usually caused by a virus and so antibiotic is not recommended. Simple analgesia and treating the underlying cause are the resonable plan. If the sore throat persists beyond 10 days or worsens after 5 days, you need to see your doctor.
