Do apples cause constipation?
Oct 30, 2015

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Apples may indeed cause constipation, especially if consumed peeled. Apples are rich in fibers. While fibers are known for their effectiveness in enhancing bowel movement since they form a bulk of indigestible materials, this bulk may linger in the intestines and produce a sense of heaviness in the abdomen, before they exit from the body. So if you eat a lot of apples per day, you may feel constipated.
