What are the symptoms of an inflated or swollen appendix?
Dec 23, 2013

Dr. Jihad Irani Family Medicine
When an appendix is inflamed (appendicitis), it usually causes pain in the abdomen. Usually, this pain starts as not very localized, then it will be more focused on the lower, right side of the abdomen. It is usually associated with some nausea, sometimes vomiting. When you touch this area, it can be very painful. There are different variations of the pain, from person to person, and, since this is an emergency, I advise that you see a doctor if you're suspecting it, the soonest.
