As for.the heartbeats rate..with xanax n.concor,,is.it.normal 100?
Aug 19, 2014

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
A normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats a minute.so your heart rate is still in the upper limit of normal .

To know if it is considered normal or not is if your heat rate always in this range then it is normal but if it used to be 60 for example and at resting now is 100 then it may be tacchycardia or rapid heart beat .

however if your blood pressure is under control and your respiratory rate is normal and no other symptoms such as breathlessness or then it is considered normal

Usually we consider an unusually high heart rate that may indicate an underlying problem if your resting heart rate is consistently above 100 beats a minute (tachycardia),especially if you have other signs or symptoms, such as fainting, dizziness or shortness of breath.

I assume you are on Concor for palpitations (fast heart beats that you feel pounding in your chest), mostly stress-related, and that is why you are also on Xanax, am I correct? Kindly correct me if I'm wrong (i.e. if you are known to have hypertension and treating it with Concor).
With both these medications, your heart rate should drop to lower than 100 beats per min. But 1st I need to inquire about the following:
- How did you estimate your heart rate? Did you measure it yourself? If so, just know that in order to assess a good estimate of the pulse, you should measure over a whole one minute, especially if your have been diagnosed with extra beats or premature beats.
- Have you taken any food or drink that might increase your pulse (coffee, chocolate, energy drink)
- Are there currently any factors that might have elicited great stress?
- What is the dose of Concor you are on?
