Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
If you look at the trend of your alanine transaminase (ALT) level with time, you will notice that it is overall dropping gradually. The issue with liver enzymes is that they fluctuate under the influence of many factors. For example, in the event of concomitant use of medications with overlapping and additive liver toxicities, or practices that may increase the risk of or exacerbate adverse effects like alcohol consumption, these may very well contribute to the elevation in liver enzymes. Moreover, some individuals are genetically predisposed to be hypersensitive to these medications.
In any case, since your viral titers (HIV, Hep B and Hep C) are undetected, you need not worry. What you should do is repeat the liver enzyme levels in a couple of months, reduce medications and avoid alcohol.
