Will there be less side effects if we take medicine as a vaginal suppository rather than oral pill? what is difference between taking a medicine orally than vaginally? what are pros and cons?
Mar 20, 2013

Dr. Johnny Rechdan Obstetrics & Gynecology
You have to be more specific about the pill or ovule composition.
If you mean contraceptive methods, vaginal rings work in a similar way as oral contraceptive pills. Both suppress ovulation but with the vaginal method, compliance is better since u insert it once every month instead of taking it daily.
Side effects are directly related to the composition.

i agree with doctor if you mean contraceptive methods, and if you mean medication like antibiotics or anti fungal treatment ,vaginal way can decrease sometimes the gastrointestinal side effects of these medication
