Why isn't bebecal recommended for babies? If if were harmful, it would've been banned.

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Not all medications available on the market are necessarily safe in the full sense of the word, the reason is that drug safety is not the sole factor that determines whether a drug can still be available. In any case, the school of thought I come from dislikes the use of drugs that contain sedatives in small babies only to put them to sleep, because these compounds can seriously negatively impact neurodevelopment; sedatives should be reserved as pre-medication before surgical procedures, or to keep babies calm in case we want to take an imaging (like X-ray or CT scan). You may consult with your child's pediatrician on the matter and obtain a second opinion.
