When should a baby stop the pacifier?
Jan 19, 2013

Dr. Dania Khalaf Pediatrics
I suggest starting limiting the use of pacifier since the age of 1 YEAR and HALF for naptime or bedtime and try to stop it completely by age of 2-3 YEARS ,because of the potential impact of prolonged pacifier use on the teeth of your child .
However ,most kids stop using pacifiers on their own between ages 2 and 4, others need help breaking the habit( Activities, toys or other objects of affection, such as a blanket with satin edging, might help distract your young child from his desire for the pacifier. For older children,Consider holding a special ceremony to bury or otherwise discard the pacifier — or allow your child to trade in his pacifier for a special book or toy)
