When I wake up, I notice a trace of blood in my saliva. What solvent can I use to treat this condition?

Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
Blood in saliva early in the morning can be due to several causes. If it is fresh, red and comes while you are brushing then maybe you have infection in your gums, teeth or Vitamin C deficiency. It’s difficult to say without examining. You will need to see a dentist about this and vitamin C pills.
Ulcers in the stomach or esophagus too bring blood in saliva as they keep bleeding. However, this blood is rust colored or brownish red. Sinusitis with post nasal drip mixed with blood could also appear as blood in saliva. There are other causes too like TB and cancer of the lungs, mouth or food pipe.
You need an ENT Specialist (who will look into the throat from inside with the help of some instruments) and a dental consultation first.
And after examination, further tests are done.
