What is the treatment for a partial tear in the anterior talafibular ligament? is it surgery or only physiotherapy? can the ligament heal fully?

Anterior talofibular ligament is a part of lateral collateral ligament composed by 3 ligaments. The major one is the posterior. The injury of the anterior one is considered as a moderate lateral ankle sprain, especially if it it a partial tear. Treatment requires: NSAIDS, Icetherapy, stop sports for 10 days to 21 days, wear a special splint to maintain a stability in the joint. After 2 to 3 weeks, sessions of physiotherapy are recommended to obtain stability in the joint, avoid swelling and avoid recurrence.
Surgery is required in severe sprain with full rupture of the entire group of ligaments causing acute instability (rare cases) or when it becomes a chronic problem with instability on clinical exam and specific X-rays...
