What is the cause of the daily morning headache ?
Jan 7, 2013

Dr. Ivana Dabaj Pediatric Neurology
The most common causes are: sleep apnea (blocking respiration or decreasing respiration effort while sleeping); teeth grinding which causes tension in the muscles of the jaw and of the face; restless sleep (turning a lot during sleep and keep moving); poor night sleep; sinusitis; migraine; tension headache (related to stress).
However there are less common causes like brain tumor or vascular malformations in the brain. In these cases there are symptoms associated to the headache like weakness, visual problems, weight loss,...etc
I suggest if you have daily morning headache to go see your doctor to be at least examined and if there is any suspicion on physical exam do a brain imaging.
