What is babycal used for? My parents used it on me and my brothers. What is it and when is it used?

Dr. Zakia Dimassi Pediatrics
Bébécal is composed of three ingredients:
1- Diphenydramine, an anti-histamine (allergy medication)
2- Chloral hydrate: a sedative
3- Belladonna extracts: atropine, hyoscine (scopolamine), and hyoscyamine, have anticholinergic properties (muscle relaxation and sedation)
Knowing the components of this medication, it is NOT recommended at all - it may affect brain development in babies and, if the dose is slightly higher then appropriate for age, may very easily produce toxic effects (especially from belladonna) and even death.
