Took epidural for vaginal delivery, now my back is hurting a lot (4 months since delivery) especially in the area I got the shot. I sometimes cannot stand the pain, is that normal? Will it get better?

Dr. Salim Saab Otolaryngology (ENT)
it is not normal to have back pain for all this time. Physiotherapy will improve your back condition.

One of the drawbacks of epidural is back pain. It usually resolves by itself, it can take up to 6 months. It depends on how many trials the anesthetist had done to insert the needle. You can take pain killers for that and you can also consult your gynecologist for a physical exam.
