Dr. Rania Mousa General Medicine
Upper abdominal pain beside abdominal bloating are symptoms that can be related to many things and causes, it is a condition in which the abdomen feels uncomfortably full and tight and may be visibly swollen (distended) like a balloon .

SO IF IT IS A :

>Generalized pain: This means that you feel it in more than half of your belly. This type of pain is more typical for a stomach virus, indigestion, or gas. If the pain becomes more severe, it may be caused by a blockage of the intestines.

>Localized pain: This is pain found in only one area of your belly. It is more likely to be a sign of a problem in an organ, such as the appendix, gallbladder, or stomach.

>Cramp-like pain: This type of pain is not serious most of the time. It is likely to be due to gas and bloating, and is often followed by diarrhea. More worrisome signs include pain that occurs more often, lasts than 24 hours, or occurs with a fever.

>Colicky pain: This type of pain comes in waves. It very often starts and ends suddenly, and is often severe. Kidney stones and gallstones are common causes of this type of belly pain.

if you feel pain after meals and fullness it may be >>Indigestion it is is pain and burning in the upper abdomen, an feeling of fullness after a meal, belching, and gas

>>indigestion, is a condition of impaired digestion. It is a medical condition characterized by chronic or recurrent pain in the upper abdomen, upper abdominal fullness and feeling full earlier than expected when eating. It can be accompanied by bloating, belching, nausea, or heartburn. Dyspepsia is a common problem and is frequently caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or gastritis. In a small minority it may be the first symptom of peptic ulcer disease .

>>Stomach cramps are often due to trapped wind and bloating. This is an extremely common problem that can be embarrassing but is easily dealt with – your chemist will be able to recommend a product, such as buscopan or mebeverine, which can be bought over the counter to treat the problem.

>>If your stomach cramps have started recently and you also have diarrhea, the cause is probably a tummy bug (gastroenteritis). This means you have a viral or bacterial infection of the stomach and bowel ,if more severe then food poisoning you should replace fluids and take necessary treatments

>if you symptoms are too severe and your abdomen is rigid and hard you MUST GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM do not hesitate It may be a sign of a serious illness that will rapidly get worse without treatment.

The most common causes of sudden, severe abdominal pain include: gall stones ,appendicitis perforated ulcer ,diverticulitis ,obstruction ,hernia ,kidney stones ,...

So must be evaluated and treated depending on diagnose .
